The Apothecary is a line of candles inspired by turn-of-the-century patent medicines. These nostrums and potions - often touted as “miracle cure-alls” - were sold by charlatans, faux doctors, and well-intentioned healers alike, despite containing ingredients of questionable effectiveness, and sometimes questionable safety.
When creating these candles, I looked to ingredients commonly found in those purported miracle remedies and incorporated them into scents reminiscent of the potions and nostrums of yore.
The candles’ “miracle claims” are, of course, entirely in jest. Pleasant aromas are the only genuine claims this alchemist is willing to make.
These transportive scents are then poured into cork-topped apothecary jars, where the ethereal glow of candlelight shining through the colored glass adds an extra touch of old-world charm to their enchanting ambiance.
